Compostable cannabis waste, if sent to landfills, contributes to methane emissions. This potent greenhouse gas accounts for about 16% of global emissions and is 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming.

By diverting cannabis green waste to composting facilities, we not only reduce harmful emissions but also turn waste into nutrient-rich compost that regenerates soil, supports healthy crops, and reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers.

Improper disposal of lithium-ion batteries can cause fires in waste facilities, landfills, and collection sites, putting workers, businesses, and communities at risk. These batteries can also leach chemicals that contaminate soil and water, threatening our ecosystems.

Monarch Waste Co. handles both pre-market and post-consumer vape pens, ensuring the batteries are safely collected, separated, and delivered to local R-2 certified recyclers for responsible processing. This keeps hazardous waste out of landfills and returns valuable critical materials like foil, cobalt, and nickel to the economy.

Composting embodies the principles of the circular economy by closing the loop on waste. At Monarch, we view waste as a resource ready to be transformed. Part of being compliant includes rendering non-hazardous cannabis waste unusable before it is composted. We achieve this by grinding it with other non-hazardous ground materials, resulting in a mixture of at least 50% non-marijuana waste by volume.
